Why veterinary physiotherapy or sports therapy?
Veterinary physiotherapy and sports therapy can have many benefits whether you or your animal are actively taking part in sport or not. Therapy can be beneficial prior to surgery, post surgery to increase healing, or as maintenance for performance and daily function.
Benefits include:
  • Pain relief or management
  • Increased circulation
  • Increased mobility and range of motion
  • Enhanced healing of injuries
  • Improved strength
Animals
All animal initial appointments will start with taking a full history followed by a static and dynamic assessment and palpation which will identify areas of tightness, soreness, or weakness. Treatment will then be tailored around your much loved animal.
For animals, it is a legal requirement under Sections 19 and 20 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 that veterinary permission is sought by your animal's veterinarian before treatment is carried out. We can do this for you following booking an appointment.

Equine & Large Animals
Veterinary physiotherapy has been widley recognised for both performance enhancement and injury rehabilitation in horses that are both ridden and companions.
Physiotherapy is not just for horses though. Other large animals, such as cattle, can benefit from a range of therapies to ease lameness and muscuoloskeletal issues which can increase production and welfare.

Dogs & Small Animals
Dogs have also been shown to benefit from physiotherapy whether they are about to go for surgery, recovering from surgery, are struggling with a muculoskeletal problem, or are sporting or working dogs.
Cats and other small animals can benefit from physiotherapy as well, especially following surgery to alleviating pain and discomfort by improving mobility and muscle balance.

Human
Sports therapy focuses on relieving musculoskeletal issues and helping to restore full function and pain-free  movement. Although there is sport in the title, we don't only treat sporting individuals and we can help with a wide range of issues as well as general aches and pains.
Home visits can be made, or if you'd rather be seen in a clinic setting, Fleur works at SV Sports Therapy where you can be seen in either of their two clinics.
